Colombo, 22nd April 2007. hSenid Software International, a global software solution provider of Mobile solutions and Software Outsourcing Services recently sponsored a learn to swim programme conducted by Swim Lanka in Kandegoda.
The programme which lasted for three months was successfully completed this month in the Kandegoda Maha Vidyalaya. The SwimLanka Shallow Water Training Pool has a target course size of 108 children between the ages of 6 and 12. SwimLanka is concerned with all tsunami affected children in the coastal areas of Sri Lanka, including displaced persons from the political situation and disabled children.
The project builds their confidence to overcome their fear of water, through Trauma Confrontation, by giving water therapy. SwimLanka recruits local swimming coaches from within the local communities and from such organisations as the local Life Savers Associations who already have a network in place with keen members. The local coaches will be trained in Colombo at the Rainbow Swimming Academy under the close supervision of Julian Bolling brand ambassador for hSenid Software International.
SwimLanka has been set up as a charitable Trust and is the brainchild of a group of Sri Lankan and expatriate individuals in Sri Lanka, who after the Tsunami disaster in 2004 realised the need for a large scale island-wide project, ultimately aiming to teach all Sri Lankan children how to swim.
The graduation ceremony recently concluded for the Kandegoda area. |
