Colombo, Sri Lanka, 28th July 2005. hSenid software International an active participant and a heavy contributor for the open source software development, will be one of the sponsors at the National Free and Open Source Software week from the 5th to 11th September 2005.

hSenid which contributed to the development of web services stack (Mirae) for J2ME mobile platform an open source implementation of jsr172, which provides the capability of accessing web services to the mobile platform.

The speakers for the FOSS week '05 are renowned leaders of the LAMP stack as well as key technical leaders in IT arena. In addition to the main conference, the participants can attend tutorials by many of the keynote speakers and learn more in depth about various white hot topics.

The dedicated team of hSenid for Open Source development has strengthen its relationship with the Lanka Software Foundation which is a non profitable foundation dedicated to support open source software developers and projects with infrastructure, funding, motivation, research, development, consultancy, training and other enabling facilities.

hSenid's development team, developed the camp registration web component for www.sahana.lk, the website for tsunami affected victims. This web component helps to find out the accommodation status of a refugee camp, current resources in hand and other essential items required for the camp.

Our Chief Executive Officer, as a member of the director board of Lanka Software Foundation has made several initiative steps to contribute the developer community to man the projects with developers for open source development projects.

As a part of the involvement in open source development hSenid actively contributes for the development of Apache Axis which is an implementation of the SOAP ("Simple Object Access Protocol"). Our engineers at hSenid have acquired the committer status for the Apache Axis C++ web service development work.

Open source, a result of a long time movement toward software which is developed and improved by a public collaboration and is freely available for the programmers on the Internet to use, modify, improve, adapt, redistribute, and fix bugs, which ultimately evolves into an exceptional product. Developments of such products are at a rapid pace than for conventional proprietary product development. The rational for this movement is to produce more useful and bug free products for everyone to use and Linux is one of the best examples which is considered as an alternative to Windows operating system even by the commercial enterprises.
